The children’s writer and translator Samuil Marshak, whose translations of Robert Burns made the Scottish poet a household name in the Soviet Union, visited Scotland twice, in January 1955 and August 1959, at the invitation of the Scotland-USSR Friendship Society and the Burns Federation. Materials about these visits may be found in the ‘Burns’ section of the website.
